absolutely insane read. was slightly predictable but the sheer scale of the situation by the end was beyond expectation. kudos to cook for calling out experimental practices at the end.

Wow! That was a serious and crazy twist at the end! I love that Robin Cook novels are relevant even 30+ years later. He draws on our deepest fears and keeps us turning pages with bated breath.

I only give this book 4 stars because it isn't the type of book I would read again. I reserve 5 star review for only books that can be enjoyed again and again.

A medical suspense novel that although it is a little dated, still is very much valid in terms of diagnosing and symptoms related to brain diseases. The cases represented are fascinating to read about the diagnosis, and the description of the symptoms the patient experiences, especially since I am all too familiar with them. Some of the medical descriptions are a bit wordy for my taste, but the author did a great job in keeping the jargon to a minimum and easy to read and understand without having a medical dictionary near by. NOW, having said all that, the computer stuff was very humorous.. 40 years of computer technology has come a long way, and I imagine the computers they are describing making lots of 80's computer noises (beep beep boop) and lots of flashing lights, like when the death star is getting powered up.. considering the room sized computers they speak of which are "top of the line" don't even come close to your cell phone or computer you are reading this on now.. I guess a bit of imagination is required to get past that part... overall a good read for sure, not bad for a book I picked up for free from a lending library...

Medical thriller with a fair amount of shock value. 3.5 rounded down.
On the brink of finalising a new medical device, Dr Martin Philips smells something fishy and starts digging.
Plenty of red herrings to keep you turning the pages.
I haven’t read a lot of Robin Cook, but I reckon I’m might pick up a couple more.

This was truly horrible. I felt like he got to the last 50 or so pages and realised he needed a villain and to wrap a story which didn't feel it was going anywhere.

A disappointment after Coma which was a good read.

Quite disappointed with this book. The characters were shallow and dull, the writing heavy, the plot not exactly exciting. Managed to finish the book by skipping whole parts, just to know how it ended. Really expected more...
