A witty weekend read after an exhausting work week. Funny - even sexy at times - look into what it means to be a Parisienne, which is not very different from what it means to be a woman from Indiana.

This is more fun then anything I would take super seriously. Some of it I would reread again and some it I just skimmed in the first place.

How to be Parisian ist quasi ein Gemeinschaftsprojekt vier junger Frauen über ihr Leben, die Liebe und die Mode in Paris.
Das Buch fällt sofort durch die schlichte und doch schicke Aufmachung auf, was sich auch direkt durch das ganze Buch zieht, welches sowohl Bilder, als auch Skizzen enthält, alles auf hochwertigem Papier gedruckt.
Inhaltlich hält das Buch auch Einiges bereit. Nebst den Erzählungen wie das Pariser Leben so spielt, erhält man auch einen Einblick in die Köpfe der Frauen dieser Stadt. Das ganze ist witzig und doch manchmal ein wenig frech erzählt. Vielen wird dann beim Lesen auffallen, dass sie es sich genau so auch vorgestellt haben und treffen hie und da auf ein paar Klischees, die anscheinend wahr sind, aber in diesem Buch vollkommen frisch und neu daher kommen.
Weiterhin ist das Buch gefüllt mit Rezepten, die man gerne nachkochen kann, außerdem eine kleine Filmauswahl, die einen direkt in die Stadt der Liebe befördern soll, ein kleines DIY zum Ausschneiden, um immer ein kleines Stück der Stadt bei sich zu haben und, falls man sich mal dazu entschließen sollte, selbst eine Reise dorthin zu wagen, auch allerhand Adressen von Restaurants, Museen, Boutiquen und so weiter und so fort.
Im Großen und Ganzen ist das Buch eine nette, kurzweilige Reise nach Paris, die den Leser ein wenig sehnsüchtig nach Urlaub werden lässt und mit einigen schönen Ideen daher kommt.

Funny and tongue in cheek, though a little overly poetic

I am still hoping this is like a bizarre satire but I know it isn't (though I really hoping that the chapter glorifying cheating is). I honestly don't understand the constant claims of feminism when every other chapter mentions calories, sex appeal (but not a "slut"), and being uber feminine (all part of the ~natural~ difference between men and women). This is everything that's wrong with french liberal feminism today, jesus... I mean what book advises you to skip breakfast for an "authentic Parisienne" experience while also telling you that pouting (or more popular known in America, R.B.F.) is feminist empowerment.

I read it for a laugh (mainly to mock the glorification of Paris?) and it was 5/5 in that regard. I do recommend this for a second-hand-embarrassment (because of how bizarre these suggestions are) humour read and for the good recipes. I am very excited for the asparagus parmesan one.
