With clear trigger warnings at the beginning the reader knows some of the stories may be hard hitting.

⚠️TW: Kidnap, emotional abuse, imprisonment, bullying, alcohol abuse, sexual abuse, manipulation

This is a modern storytelling based mainly around Hades and Persephone. We see a chemistry develop between them when Persephone attends a party, Hades shows up and is taken aback by her beauty. A fur coat is exchanged as well as some forbidden touching and hand holds. We have to remember that Persephone must remain abstinent so any romantic altercation is potentially a danger. Other sideline characters mentioned are Zeus, Hera and Psyche.

You see a lot of the male gods in this season domimate their power over the women in various ways: emotionally, physically. In one scene towards the end in particular this is harrowing but also true to the actual myth.

When reading this I would say pay attention to all the details and body language you can pick up on throughout. Don't be afraid to go back and re-read or find a summary online to keep you in check.

Bottom line: In all a good graphic novel. For me didn't quite live up to the hype. The next one is on request so hopefully now the first is read I can settle in a lot quicker to the next one!

A beautiful graphic novel about mythology, romance and more~ I finally read the first volume!

I have been eyeing this series for a while. It kept popping up on my Twitter, my Webtoon front page found I should read it, and there are the blogs. Haha. So yesterday I decided it was high time to get started on this one. Apparently it is still on Webtoon so I could go to there and read it.

I have to say I love mythology, though it is mostly very basic + I am just terrible at remembering all the facts. Haha. So while reading I had to at times just look up things. Like why did Persephone’s hair just magically grow? What is up with the flowers? What was the deal again between x and y. I don’t mind at all to search things, if anything, I just love it when I learn something while reading so I was eagerly soaking up all the new details.

In this one we mostly follow Persephone/Hades, but we also get to see many other gods and goddesses. We see all parts of the world, from the Underworld with some hilarious neon signs to the upperworld with glitter and spark. While I know the story, or at least one of the stories as like with all mythology there are many sides to stories, I was definitely shipping Hades and Persephone. I loved how sweet and gentleman he was when he found her drunk in his car. He made sure she was safe. Made sure that everything was good. Plus, I just adored their conversation there. Especially the facial expressions were brilliant. These two are teasing/flirting and it was cute!

Persephone was a fun character, though so so naïve. I guess that is what you get when your mom is a helicopter mom and constantly watches every move. It was quite fun to see her try to make a new life for herself with her best friend. Discover the world. Find out what she wants.

I loved that each god/goddess had their own colour. From blue for Hades to pink for Persephone! It made things way more easier to follow as really, there are just too many characters in this one to remember as is. This helps enormously. Plus, I think it is a fun and creative idea!

Oh, and bonus points to the cute dogs and puppers that Hades has! My boy Cerberus of course, but Hades also got a lot of other dogs!

There is one chapter that made me cry and want to kick someone back to mortaldom and that is the chapter with Apollo. God, what a total dickwad that guy is. While it isn’t too graphically shown, you know full well what is happening in the chapter and I had a tough time to read it. Poor Persephone, hope that she and Hades will bring hell to that guy.

I loved the art and the colours, however sometimes things were a bit too stilted for my likes. It could use much more movement.

All in all, I really cannot wait to read more of this one. Yes, it was a tad confusing because I just don’t know all there is about mythology, but that is what Google is for. XD I want to know how this love story continues + I want to see the stories of the other gods~
