The "Pleasure at Hom"e series by author Beth Yarnall is about the cast and crew of a home shopping show by the same name, one that specializes in promoting and selling adult toys. The first book, "Rush", focuses on the popular host of the show, Miyuki Price-Jones, and the man assigned to protect her from an obsessed stalker and an ultra-conservative group protesting the show, Lucas Vega.

There's an instant attraction between Mi and Lucas and while that's something that many can relate to, the intensity of Lucas' feelings for Mi in the very short amount of time they were together was a tad difficult for me to believe, especially since Mi has secrets she refuses to share willingly and Lucas has an issue with secretive women. I also didn't feel like they clicked as a romantic couple, so not only did it feel like their feelings from lust to love were rushed but also a bit forced.

All that being said, I did like the suspense thriller aspect of the book. The show being sabotaged and the stalker after Mi had me wondering if they were one and the same person and if the suspect mentioned was just a scapegoat. The book keeps you on your toes and the story makes you want to figure who's hiding what and for what reason. Even Mi's final revelation in the latter part of the story caught me off guard and I consider that a good thing because I obviously didn't see it coming. ^.^

"Rush" was a romantic suspense novel and though the romance part may not have fully hit my satisfaction quota, the suspense part certainly did. Two of the characters who play supporting roles in the book, Cal Sellers, Lucas' close friend and Mi's boss, and Lucy Monroe, Mi's close friend and former co-host, are both interesting and are the lead characters in the second book. Taking everything into consideration, I'm giving "Rush" three stars out of five.

Beth Yarnall surprised me in many good ways with Rush!
Mi is an amazing character. Confident, yet insecure in many ways for both. The plates she joggles, that most people don't know about, would have most people pulling their hair out. However this woman goes on TV and with pride and confidence sells adult toys. Giving her a swoon of fans and creepers. The strength she must possess in so many aspects of her life, leaves this strong woman a bit naïve at times. Mi finds a way to continue on, even when life would be broken from most. Strong doesn't begin to describe her.
Ex-Navy and Bodyguard Lucas got more than he bargained for when paying back a favor. The man is as hard as the come. Yes, in every way! He's strong, takes no crap and can intimidate just about anyone. He also has a kind, loyal and caring heart that makes saying know to him quite a hard thing to do. Lucas will sweep you off your feet, swoop in, pick you up, and leave good chills going up and down your spine.

High five to Beth Yarnall! A superb mix of suspense and romance. With unexpected drama that is just as intense as the passion. Plot twist that drop jaws and engaged the reader fully. Mi and Lucas turn this story into intricate adventure while getting to see the craziness to the happily ever after.
Steven Barnett flawless deliverers the emotions, passion, fear, desperation and pleasure that Ms. Yarnall gives readers in Rush.

I went into this with absolutely zero expectations, except that it sounded intriguing and had a pretty cover... but WOW. Love, love, loved it. I've sat here all night neglecting everything to blow through it, and it was so entertaining!

Lucas. OMG. How I adore Lucas. Made this damned book. Mi could get a *touch* irritating at times, but overall solid characters (did I mention Lucas?) and a great story with a few different plot threads throughout to keep it interesting.

I wish there was more of it. And by it (shocker), I mean Lucas...

Reread: November 2015

Overall I think it is a good book. I could shorten a little bit. But in the end it was a good one

When Lucas is hired to protect Mi from protesters and a stalker they are immediately attracted to one another. For a big, tough ex-Navy SEAL, Lucas is surprisingly sweet. But the secrets that Mi is keeping threaten to come between them. I wanted to figure it out as much as Lucas did. There is definitely lots of steam between the two, along with plenty of action and plot twists. A great romantic suspense read.

This was a really interesting story. Lucas was amazing, Mi was adorable, and they were actually pretty good together as a couple. There were times when I wanted to strangle Mi for being so stubborn about her mother and refusing to accept help. I was relieved when her brother Jason finally manned up. Knowing who the culprits were from the beginning made the story a little less suspenseful, but overall, this was a good story.
