This book was very good, and my first Katherine Center novel. I was expecting more of a romance story, but even though that’s the heavy focus in the beginning it turned into more of a contemporary finding yourself story with a tiny bit of romance mixed in.

Read this book after watching the movie recently. I appreciated the differences in storylines because this one felt a lot more realistic and less like a rom com.

The movie was better.

The MCs are both loveable and insufferable. They have weird chemistry and they just don't really seem like they belong together.
ALSO WHY DID THE DOG HAVE TO DIE? What did that do for the plot? And why would the brother bring the dog in a cooler along with beer?????

Very cute story. I've been meaning to read Katherine Center for a long time now, and I'm glad to have both a new release and a hefty backlist to continue with! The characters were delightful, and I loved all they went through on the hike, and all their life stories as well.

I wasn’t really sure what to expect- I love Katherine Center, and I’m  excited for the Netflix movie based on this book. I, however, had a feeling this would be a little more serious than her other novels and was pleasantly surprised by Helen’s little quips. I also love the character growth from Helen throughout. She clearly had a lot to work on under the surface, and it was fun to have her work through it. Her journey is an important reminder for us about practicing gratitude and not ignoring the things that are right in front of you.
