Great summer read. I loved it. It's more than chick lit though there is a romance storyline where you end up cheering for both parties. It's not an annoying "girl power" and "we don't need men" type message either. Instead there is a lot of humor and frustration and teamwork.
And though she is not outdoorsy, it's not a "stupid woman going out in the wilderness with no preparation or plan like that Wild chick." The whole GROUP is unprepared for this type of excursion.
It's just one woman putting herself WAY out of her comfort zone to shake up her life.
And finding that happiness isn't getting what you want but being happy with what you have.

I so so so badly wanted this to be my first 5 star read of the year, I LOVE the movie and I think that might be where the issue lies, while I really enjoyed this book I couldn’t put it down! It felt a little different in tone to the movie, I was expecting a slightly more sincere, slow, indie, gentle and I guess more mature story which the book does provide in a way however, i felt that the book felt a little tropey, had I know that was what I was going to get from the book I think this would have been a 5 start read but unfortunately my love for the film slightly over shadowed the book. I would still 10/10 recommend and will be reading again :)

Such a sweet romance between Helen and a much younger Jake. (This is the precursor to “What you wish for” where you meet Duncan.)
It’s a recipe for love — failed marriage, searching for a new you, enroll in a wilderness camp excursion, and fall for a younger guy! You really will cheer for Helen mostly because of all she has been through in her life. This new love is just the win she needed!
