This book presents itself with a level of maturity that I appreciate. It's not maturity in the sense that it reads like Dash, the main character, is a teenager or adult but rather a realistic yet level headed middle schooler. Gibbs also maintains adequate suspension of disbelief even with the moon base setting and the simply nasty Sjoburg space tourist family. I also really enjoyed the blend of mystery and alien contact present in this book as well as the other two in the series.

This is such a fun series with a well-crafted world and characters who I’ve come to either love or loathe. I wish we’d seen more of Kira in this one but once again it was great to see Dash in action on the case. Violet is still a particularly delightful side character. The element which really takes the book into the sci-fi realm took a strange turn but I’m still interested in seeing where that storyline goes. Looking forward to seeing how the series wraps up with one more mystery.

Like a modern day Agatha Christie. You are always right on the edge of figuring out the mystery. In the meantime, there's a treatise on humanity and where we are headed if we don't stop and pay attention.
