These books were a real guilty pleasure.
I read them all, could not get enough, that doesn't mean they are good.
Some parts are, and most parts are just ... he's a bird right?

This series definitely got to the point where it was time to turn in the towel, and I think that time came and went a little while ago.

I'm so glad this is finally over

I did it! I made it through! I'm done reading this horrible book series. It started pretty good with the first few books which is why I kept reading but 12 books? That's just too much. Most of the characters just kept getting more and more annoying and the end of the very last book was a touch disappointing.

Başlarda keyif aldığımı itiraf etmeliyim. Yeni vampirleri seviyorum,entrikalar falan sarmıştı cidden. Ama sonradan yeni kitabının aylarca rafta süründüğü de oldu. Son kitabı ise bir an önce bitsin diye bu kadar hızlı okudum. Ama ne bileyim, nefret de etmiyordum, sadece birkaç karakteri çok sevmiştim ve devam ettirmek istedim.

Bu kitaba gelecek olursak... Bitiyor diye mi ne diğerlerinden daha çok beğendim, kötü iyi hiçbir şeyin bitmesinden hoşlanmam, yavaş okumak istemiştim ama merak saldı işte. Akıcıydı, ama tahmin edilebilirdi ki yapılan şey gayet de en baştan beri belli idi. Herkesin başı onla bunla bağlandı mutluluk yenilik falan vıdıbıdı oldu işte.

Beğenmediğim şeyleri saymak istemem çünkü burdan çıkarak 12 kitabı da sudan geçirmek gerekir. Beğendiğimse havada bir şey kalmadı, bu vampirlerin nereden geldiğine kadar sorular cevaplandı. Bi ara ha o öldü! Yok ölmedi. La bu mu ölcek? Haa,bu da ölmedi oldu ama... Ölen de vardı bayağı her zamanki gibi. Seri ölüleri ile futbol ligi kurulabilirdi.

Aşırı iyi değildi belki de ama okuduğum zaman için pişman da değilim. Belki de bazı insanların gözünde basılacak kadar bile değeri yoktu bile ama ne bileyim, ben dünyasına alışmıştım. Belki aşırı uzatılmasa daha çok beğenilebilirdi.

Güldüğüm de oldu ağladığım da, elimden de bırakamadım kapağını dahi açmak istemedim ama yine de başka bir dünya için minnettarım. Uğurlar olsun Gece Evi!

I loved this ending.

Ich kann nicht glauben, dass ich diese Serie wirklich zu Ende gelesen habe. Wow.

I’ll take this opportunity to rate the whole of HoN and why I read it.

Finally finished this series. I have always loved vampires and this seemed ideal for my high school self. Had made it through to Tempted the first time and gave up. Guess starting college back then had a lot to do with that (2010!). Then then pandemic came (2020 as if anybody needs reminding) and I found myself with nothing to do after hospital shifts and devouring that first book in one night. I laughed at myself because wow! How poorly written and immature these books are...yet there I was; couldn’t let go. Between Zoey’s annoying “voice” and the increasing amount of points of views, believe me, I considered stopping. There were some books that felt like fillers and increasingly boring with flat plots and annoying cliffhangers. However, the novellas I thoroughly enjoyed. Guess none of that “bullpoopie” teenager slang and unnecessary pop culture references applied in those which made them great. Plus, definitely gave insight for the next books and fueled me to continue reading.

If you are considering when to read the novellas, I recommend to read them as #9 Dragon’s Oath, #11 Lenobia’s Vow, #13 Neferet’s Curse, and #15 Kalona’s Fall. Fill in the numbers with the series’ books.

Also, what’s with the racists comments, stereotypes, and don’t get me started with the r word. Excuse me, Casts, but your privilege was showing!

Can’t finish without the positive and well I did read the whole thing so there must have been something good: I had my laughs, I enjoyed the Kalona-Nyx love story, Kalona’s growth and character development, Rephaim’s story, finding out where these vampires came from, that we came far from the whole love triangle thing (although Zoey never let it go), and although Redeemed was fast paced I appreciated that it was the ONE book that had action from the beginning.

I wish I had closure with the characters from the circle in that epilogue but oh well...nope! And what happened in the Isle of Skye????
