Loved that this was a murder mystery but still set on Nantucket because duh, it’s Elin Hildebrand. Every character plays a part story and she ties it all together so well. Perfect book to end my summer reading with!

Nearly every single person in this book is a d-bag. Here is my ranking of most to least d-bag-iness:
1. Greer - actually seemed like a great mother-in-law
2. Celeste's parents - great people. Went through some hard times and came out stronger... admirable. Too bad their daughter is a D-BAG!
D-bags:
1. Abby - trying to drug people is bad?? Weird how this was glazed over.I get that the murder was not intentional but she still caused it because she was trying to harm someone else
2. Shooter - running interference on your "best friend's" engagement and also trying to seduce your "best friend's" girlfriend? That's a d-bag move.
3. The Chief - insisted that getting a lawyer makes you look "guilty" even though that is the FIRST THING you should do if you are questioned by the police. Also he gave up solving the crime after like... one day #ACAB
4. Tag - Pathetic. Why is nearly everyone in this book cheating on someone?
5. Celeste - obsessively "not like other girls". Blowing up your whole life because you spent 48 hours with someone is a very questionable move. She seemed heavily inspired by notorious d-bag Rory Gilmore.
6. Thomas - yet another cheater. Also doesn't even like his wife really.
7. Merritt - don't seduce a married man!! (this would put her ranking higher, but since she was murdered, I will cut her some slack)
8. Benji - a little snooty at times. Overall a pretty great boyfriend and fiancee though. Could probably be on the "not a d-bag" list.
All in all, NEVER TALK TO THE POLICE WITHOUT A LAWYER!

Maybe I’m picking the wrong EH books? I hear such great things about her books. Maybe it’s this series? I was bored stiff listening to this book.
This year I gave up reading fantasy. Too much going on, I need a flow chart for characters. Too much like work so hard pass. I may give up on these books too. I felt like a flow chart would have been handy in this series as well. Don’t come at me
