The first 20 pages were so dry, I was like how is this one of the best books of 2020? But eventually, I was persuaded and fell in love with the characters and plot and witty writing King has. however, maybe I'm biased because I'm Canadian but Canadian geese are vicious and will attack you

i liked this book!! very poignant reflection on making a life in the arts as well as the different kinds of relationships that we go through in life. very elegant prose that was smooth and easy to read, but some really punchy lines that stick with you. glad to start off my 2025 reading on a positive note with this one :)

Favorite book so far this year. Equal parts fun and anxiety-inducing: I laughed out loud, grinned madly, wept, ached, etc. Lily King wrote a fantastic narrative about the process of writing (the way you can get so stuck, get so in your own head) and also the way we grieve. Casey was so real and lovable as a main character— I just wanted her to thrive. Highly highly highly recommend.

Very slow build with an ending that lacked details. I feel like this book could have gone on for at least another 50 pages. It felt like a very one level kind of book. It wasn't bad, but I wouldn't pick it up again.
