Have always loved this book. Picked up my old copy at our vacation cottage at the lake this week for nostalgia. Still love it. :-)
Approval from this Halloween birthday girl.

Good for kids

An entertaining, fantastic and light-hearted book for children (and adults that know appreciate that kind of book). I especially like how content it is. It is very short but it knows how to take advantage of its duration to tell enough.
It has the common and what one can expect from books with protagonists with misfortune and magic involved (this book was published in the 70s). But as I said before, he knows how to make you enjoy it.
Overall it is a short book but it worked. I think it must have been a bit of inspiration for other books like Harry Potter, or series like Little Witch Academia.
What may not work so well is that the characters only do what is necessary to comply. Except perhaps for Mildred, the rest of the characters seem too generic because they are not developed enough to be more memorable or special.

A childhood favorite.
fast-paced

This was so cute and I enjoyed it so much! I adored watching the show as a kid in the late 90s yet I never read the books.
