I just plain loved this book - these two are fun and caring and steamy and connected. It’s easy to see how they can fall for each other so quickly and get swept into their journey. There’s also more hockey in this one, without overwhelming the story, and some tragic consequences that are realistic to the game, unfortunately. Some things get resolved, some things don’t - just like life, not all things are black and white. Yay for having a few realistic conversations and issues surrounding workplace romances and power dynamics. The emotional roller-coaster they go on and the level of commitment they have to each other to get through it made for a powerful read and pretty much perfect HEA.

I am now fully invested in this world and can’t wait to see what the author brings to life in it next.

I received a free copy of this book from the author and this is my honest opinion.

I read Goaltender Interference and Zane/Ryan's books and enjoyed them. Noah's book was boring. This book left an extremely bad taste in my mouth and I'm going to have to take a break before finishing this series.

I'm not a fan of age gaps, especially when one of the MC is literally old enough to be the parent of the other MC. This book had a 20 year age gap, but I read it because it's a part of the series. I'm really regretting that.

It's super inappropriate for Lance to date his player, Gabriel. Especially since he knows this is Gabriel's last chance in the NHL due to his reputation and actions.

Lance was a giant red flag, who spent the majority of the book manipulating Gabriel. Lance knew Gabriel was alone in the city, stressed from taking care of his dad, and vulnerable. It didn't stop him from pursuing Gabriel. Gabriel tells Lance he's worried about what the relationship would do to his career, so they can't tell anyone.
Lance tells his entire family without talking to Gabriel about it and was surprised that Gabriel wasn't thrilled. He then spends the rest of the book guilting and manipulating Gabriel into going to his daughter's wedding, despite Gabriel not wanting to. He ends up going and of course they are outted as a couple.

Their whole relationship was a total of 3 months and they're both madly in love with each other. Lance keeps saying he has no problem quitting his job to keep dating Gabriel. What? Throwing away your career over a 3 month relationship is something. But he's a master manipulator, so I'm not surprised he kept saying that.

The one star is because I did like Gabriel and the other hockey players.

Honestly I skimmed the last 50%. I’m definitely a mood reader and maybe I was simply in the wrong mood? Anyways, I found it lacked any tension whatsoever and was kinda dull.

I liked the first book in the series but DNFed the second one. Thought I would try again after reading another book (Goaltender Interference) by Brigham that I absolutely loved. But this is probably it for me concerning this series.
