I liked it better than Trophy Hunt and I didn't mind the tension and temptations of husband and wife. Considering what their lives have been like, no surprise, really. Grief does things to marriages.
Disliked the confession as it seemed an improbable thing to not only do but to confess to--at a party no less when anyone could have heard. The reveal at the end also very contrived--white water rapids dangerous enough to plausibly drown someone aren't easy to swim away from/through. How did she get from there to anywhere without help from anyone who wouldn't recognize her?

Good book, but I felt like the story was just getting going for about the first half. Not necessarily slow, but just a lot of leading up to a rapid conclusion.

Solid work. Very solid. Seems Mr Box gets better and better each book. Nice, flowing, easy, exciting read.

I was worried that Box was going to go with gruesome psychopaths after last book, but he kept away from that. This was a good book with several subplots going and not necessarily colliding.

Joe Picket is transferred to the Jackson district temporarily due to the sudden death of a fellow ranger. Of course, Joe begins to investigate his death and finds himself in the same footstep of his predecessor where a set of wealthy businessmen need his approval to build an expensive enclave in the middle of an area used by bison and elk as they trek up and down the mountains in search of food each season.
