Another exciting volume, we get from the big Scar battle to lure the homonculus all the way up to part one of Gluttony's wrath.

This is such a strong section of the series, and one I remember reading as it came out. My favorite moments are the conversation between Ling and Bradley (you'll never be a real king bitch) and, how his character is both funny and yet so passionate. Lanfan and Ling being fucking badass as a team! Lanfan cutting her own arm off, Ling never giving up on her and the way he binds Gluttony was amazing.

Of course, the scenes w Winry. From her with Gracia, remembering the trauma of losing her parents, to her being unable to shoot Scar, she goes through it this volume. But it left such an impact on me, even moreso as an adult. Her hands were not meant to kill, and even Ed's hesitation to take the gun from Riza, just highlights how young the main trio are.

Mei is also amazing, even if she still thinks Ed is a generic romantic lead.

We get some uh...odd revelations about Hohenheim and he's bulletproof? And he might be Father?!

It's interesting how Envy taunts Marco and contrasting and comparing to how Lust spoke of her kind. How they see their personhood will continue to be a good way to explore what it is to be alive.

Mr Knox comes into the series and just. These reviews are now purely for my own joy.

An action packed and entertaining volume, though not much is resolved the fights and further plot developments continue the stellar story.

This is my favorite volume in the series so far. The scene with the gun and the question of whether to use it -- even more, what the outcome of the choice means -- was incredibly well done. The story advances, the characters are interesting, all that, but it's the powerful moments like that that really hooked me in this series.

Action-packed, thickening plot, three-dimensional characters, and humor drizzled on each character, Fullmetal Alchemist is a book that should definitely be read by all. Left me with tears in my eyes and a warm heart for every character that you meet along Ed and Al's long journey.
