I listened to the audiobook, got it in a two for one deal on audible. Let's just say I'm glad I didn't waste a credit on it.
I just don't get it lol.
I think the author tries to explore how we deal with grief, loss, etc... but again, just didn't get it. It was boring, I kept waiting for the story to start and then at the end all of a sudden we get really dark then it's over.  Very repetitive,  I'd love to know how many times the words dream & sleep were used.

This was on track for a four star review right up till close to the end of the book - anything that makes me cry more or less automatically gets five stars, obviously within reason. This cosy magical realism/soft fantasy book is not my usual thing, but it made a nice change to read something hopeful and peaceful. I enjoyed the world that was built, and the characters were an unusual mix. It was an easy, light read up until it got emotional, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I'll definitely read the sequel, and hope it will be just as good.

From the beginning I was in awe of this book and the concept of a store that sold and offered dreams to people. It's so unique, cozy and interesting. It's a book I would recommend to all readers who like creative stories with animated characters and meaningful messages on life.

This book was wonderful. The perfect cozy read.

Thank you to Libro for the ALC that gave me the chance to listen to this masterpiece. Miye Lee wrote such a lighthearted yet reflective story with Penny’s adventures at Dallergut’s Dream Department Store. Shannon Tyo was a master in her voice work with the many different characters she portrays and the emotion she was able to add to every line while keeping the story soft and cozy. It was the perfect listen for a paint night or any craft you like. Light a few candles, set up your perfect cozy vibe and enjoy a wonderful listen.
