I picked this book up thinking that it would be like Christie's And Then There Were None, but while it definitely was different from my expectations, it didn't disappoint as far as plot goes. The mystery is fairly simple at first: a young woman is found on the hearthrug in well-to-do Colonel Bantry's library. Though all signs point to a suspicious character just outside the village, the mystery actually goes a lot deeper than is expected. I very much enjoyed the plot of this book, but at times Christie's writing is a bit difficult to understand. While much of the novel is easy to understand, other portions lack sufficient details to justify the reveal of the murderer and motive.
Definitely a great read for anyone interested in murder mysteries. Just make sure that you keep a sharp eye out for every detail.
