This is a simple, hopeful view of the Holocaust, but good for the younger reader who is just being introduced to the topic. It's action scenes are very well written and will captivate grade schoolers. I am very glad this series exists. My library has them all and cannot keep them on the shelves. Kids ask for them daily and recommend them to their friends. Highly recommended by me as well!

I am really impressed with these books. I can see why the author didn't want to write about the holocaust and why she skirted the horrors a bit. I respect that choice given the age group she's writing for.

World War II is probably my favorite part of history and this book does a fantastic job of sharing a little bit about the history of Poland being invaded and what it was like to be Jewish in the ghettos.

I’m so glad there’s a series for kids that makes historical fiction cool. There was so much action in this story! And I learned so much. Even as an adult, when you think you know too much about World War II and the Holocaust, you still can learn from a children’s book. As a matter of fact, children’s historical fiction is my favorite to read. I had no idea that resistance fighters were so numerous or successful. It handled a tough topic well. I loved it, and kids will, too.

This has been impossible to keep on the shelf at my school library (K-5) so I finally read the electronic version and I see why it's so popular. This graphic novel is a really great way to make this history accessible to kids.
