a good simplistic overview of major (western) philosophy and a decent storyline that keeps you interested.

It was a clever device to use the narrative of a child's process of discovery to give a potted history of philosophy. I'm not sure it works throughout, but I learned some stuff while being entertained.

This is without a doubt one of the most interesting books I've ever read.
Sophie learns from her philosophy tutor, Alberto, and we learn alongside her about the history of philosophical thought while also witnessing the strange developments in her life which start happening after she starts her philosophy classes.
It's as important as ever for us humans to be asking ourselves the questions which Sophie herself has to face throughout the course of this book.
There's also a very interesting twist at the end.
Loved it!
