Gorgeous graphic novel, very loveable characters and I laughed out loud a few times! Beatrice is adopted, forages for herbs to help her pig wizard grandfather and encounters Cad on a foraging expedition. He is a Galdurian—thought to be an extinct race. Also, the sun no longer exists but there are big balls of light in the sky. This was book 1 and I’m looking forward to book 2!

A grand adventure of magic, mystery, and adventure. Fans of the Amulet series will enjoy this book. The artwork is fantastic. The characters well rounded. I love the visual way that anxiety is represented and the struggle between dark and light.
