This was good. I just wanted more of the witchiness, I suppose.

Wow! This has been the surprise hit of the reading year so far for me! Weyward represents my first foray into the realms of "Witch-Lit", as I have previously heard it described, and I wasn't sure what to expect but I was BLOWN AWAY by this MESMERISING book; the writing, the imagery, the symbolism, the allure and mysticism of the natural world, as well as the atmospheric settings, all combined to create a powerful, evocative and moving read.

The novel follows three linked women, across numerous generations and the point of view repeatedly alternates between these intriguing protagonists. Occasionally, I can find it irksome when a novel continually shifts perspectives, as I tend to favour one storyline over others, and have to resist the urge to skip through the less entertaining subplots to get back to the one that captivates me the most, but Emilia Hart has managed to create three superb female leads, and I was equally transfixed by all these amazing women.

I loved the gradual unfurling of the story, which helped to establish the link and deeper connection between these women. Each faced their own trials and tribulations, often at the hands of rather vile men, but each found their own way through, relying on their inner strength and courage.

There are some upsetting scenes within this book, but they are sensitively handled, and do help drive the story forward.

Overall, I found this book hard to put down, so much so that I read the physical book at home then swapped to the audiobook for my work commute, so I didn't have to waste a moment of my day, and could fill every free second with this captivating tale.
