I didn't enjoy this as much as Hater. It just felt like while things were happening, it wasn't really memorable, almost like the entire 336 pages could have been a chapter or two added to book one or three instead... ðŸ«

My initial concerns with this storyline remain, but I'm still enjoying the books. They are quick and entertaining reads. My concern is with the fact that the protagonist is part of a group comprising roughly 1/3 of the human population and that is obsessed with eradicating the other 2/3's. Although the Haters claim that they must kill non-Haters as a matter of self-preservation, it was the Haters who initiated violence once they changed into Haters. Even at the present point in the story, Haters who can control their rage are able to walk among non-Haters and not be recognized for what they are; only Haters can differentiate between Haters and non-Haters. This again reinforces the concept that if it wasn't for the aggression of the Haters, both groups could coexist just fine. We'll see whether the final book addresses this issue or not.

Really liked this book, I hope there are more in the series. This story is more dystopian than the last because it shows how the world has progressed after months of being turned upside-down.

I have mixed feelings about this novel. I loved it; I loved the action and the flow of the narration. On the other end, I found myself despising most of the characters, both Unchanged and Hater. One side acts like a lost sheep, the other like a blood-crazed animal, neither having redeemable qualities except towards the very end and even then.

"Dog Blood" is the second in what I believe will be a trilogy, following the incredibly disturbing "Hater". "Dog Blood" is every bit as violent and full of horror as the cover would lead you to believe, continuing the story of a society coming apart at the seams as the population almost overnight divides into two camps, Haters and Unchanged. Seemingly ordinary people suddenly become unstoppably homicidal, driven by a powerful hatred to kill everyone they encounter who is not "like us". "Hater" covered the early stages of this phenomenon; in "Dog Blood", several months have gone by, and the world is on the brink of apocalypse. All semblance of civilized society is gone, and the survivors face a reality in which "kill or be killed" has never been a truer sentiment. I found "Dog Blood" overall to be more tightly written and edited, and couldn't put it down. Not at all a fun read, "Dog Blood" is none the less compelling, and definitely not for the faint-hearted.

A good sequel, this series is strangely prophetic in regards to the current political climate in the US and Britain.

A pretty intense part two of the three book series. While the focus became narrow and some of the characters couldn't really shake out of their only goal (not very much development), it was interesting to see some humanity instilled in both sides and a better "inside look" of what some of our characters are really thinking.
