If you like the previous two books, this one is a familiar feeling sequel. Follows the murder mystery formula. Entertaining read, but nothing amazing here.

I'm surprised at how focused on sex these last 2 books have become. There's certainly nothing outrageous about it; it's just a bit unexpected. Yet these books aren't just sci-fi, or even speculative sci-fi: they are very much speculative anthropology as well. A large part of the study of any (human) culture would be sexuality/reproductive norms.
But, honestly, I should have been able to see this coming after, in the first book, we find out that Daneel, a humaniform robot, is very, precisely humaniform.

I really enjoyed this series thoroughly. A sci-fi novel with a mystery at its heart is usually a sure bet for me. I think this was the weakest entry in the trilogy, but still a fun read.

(3.5) Unfortunately a step down from the previous book, this installment was almost twice the length of the previous two and felt unnecessarily so. Characters’ actions and dialogue are slow and repetitive, though Elijah receives the most development yet in the series. From what I’ve read in Asimov’s connected universe thus far, he is at his best when the books are shorter and more tightly paced.

Reading Asimov into the new year should be something i do every year. It tends to be thought provoking, and uplifting. I love this series. Happy New Year.
