This is about as loosely based on a book a movie has ever been in my opinion. I loved the movie, this book was alright but I didn't love the dragons personalities or the Vikings for that matter. And the giant Dragon battle was a touch ridiculous. Maybe I'd have liked this more if I had never seen the movie but it just didn't live up to it at all.

Very different from the movies! It was not what I was expecting but it was good!

This book accomplishes exactly what it set out to accomplish. The humor is ridiculous and the plot is just absolutely silly and wild. I connected with it more than Wizards of Once for some reason, maybe the dragons and all that. I would've found Toothless to be very funny when I was younger, so I'm bumping up the rating to 4 stars because of that.

This book is VERRRRRY different from the movie I know and treasure, but that being said, I thoroughly enjoyed this book too! Having David Tennant narrate it was a highlight.

Quick read that was a bit amusing. However, it's not something that will be particularly memorable.

Dragons are not my fictional being of choice (mermaids are), but the more I read them the less originality I find in their stories. Simply seems like they are all facing similar themes, speak similar languages, etc etc. But my kiddo was actively invested so I'll count it as a win and pray he dreams of Green Bay football and not fire holes inside dragon throats and mean boys jealous of their future leader.

Listened to the audiobook.
This book is something else! At first I was rather disgruntled because it’s not the same as the movie(especially Toothless and dragon training in general!!) but.
I ended up loving it just as much, if differently! It’s so creative and the names of everything so much fun! The narrator was really good too! I liked that it didn’t have a crush angle(Hiccup and Astrid in the movie), it was just the story, it was nice.
A fun read and hope to read the rest of the series(I had no idea there’s like 7 or 8 books. Edit: there’s actually 12!!! Even more -> Yay!!)
