Ugh, OK, we get it already. Should she listen to her dragon side and pick Riley (no, he's stupid), or her human side and pick Garrett (yes, and when he dies, just go be with Riley, problem solved). Also, once I realized how often the author used a simile (like, once per paragraph), I started to go a little nuts. They weren't even GOOD similes. So a drastic drop in my rating of this series. The novelty of dragons being able to turn into humans has worn off and all I'm left with is incredibly dull teen angst with a Twilight complex. Blech.

I was a little disappointed in the first book in Julie Kagawa's new series, but I loved the dragon mythology enough to give the second instalment a try. Rogue is a big improvement on the first book, far more action-packed and exciting. From the first page, the pace is relentles. Garret's sentenced to execution for betraying the Order of St George and sparing Ember's life, so she and the rogue dragon, Riley, plan to rescue him. We get the addition of Dante's POV, Ember's brother, as well as flashbacks to Riley's time as an agent for Talon. With the set-up out of the way, the story races along, with that addictive quality of Kagawa's writing. I'm invested in this series now, and interested to see where it leads!

I liked this so much more than Talon, despite the inevitable love triangle, because it felt less like a book about contemporary teens hanging out at the beach, a few of whom happen to be secret dragons or secret dragon-slayers, but really, parties! and surfing! and boys! This sequel had more action and a real sense of what's at stake for the rogue dragons (and the rogue dragon-slayer soldier) as they fight to stay alive and uncover what the two factions are up to.

The amazing sequel to Talon which I just couldn't put down. If you thought book one was good book 2 is even better. I love it although there were times I though it was a bit slow. Ember needs to make up her mind about Rogue and Garret. But even I can clearly see Garret is just what she needs.
Dante just wants power and he doesn't really care how he get is it at this points.
The scenes are vivid and the author does a brilliant job of bringing these ancient creatures into the present society. If you like Smaug from the hobbit then you will also love the dragons featured in this book. Cant wait for book 3 as I know that is going to be the one to set this series on fire!

I always really enjoy diving into the worlds that Julie Kagawa creates, and this book was no exception on that. I really liked the dynamics between the characters (even though love triangles are something that might be all too familiar now). I liked the ideas about what is the difference between dragons and humans and how that can work out (especially in the relationship between Garrett and Ember). I really want more now :D

If I'm being honest, I'm kinda just sticking around for Garret and Wes.

You know that feeling that you get when immersed in a reaaaaaallllly good book? Like you are at one with the main character(s)? Feeling everything they feel? Having your heart race when s/he has to face a great foe or escape some stressful situation? Yeah.........I'm not getting that with this series.
Personally, I found the flow of the book to be once again slow and unexciting, despite the fact that it was composed of mostly "action" scenes - unlike the first book which had no action at all. During the fight/escape scenes, when I should have been at the edge of my seat (these are DRAGONS fighting after all!!), most of the time I found myself either skipping ahead or glancing at the clock every few minutes feeling as if I had been reading for hours, when in reality, it was only a few mins. At this point the only thing keeping me going is my OCD at leaving things half finished and my desire to figure out why in the world Ember Hill is so important (and whether or not it coincides with my theory).
