I love a good paranormal romance with demons and this one did not disappoint! Pasador has been awakened early from a long slumber because a soul calls to him. When he enters the human realm, he discovers fey and demons being held as slaves by Nuhem. Pasador is all hard, tough edges and I’m going to steal your soul but since he’s only threatening truly despicable people and fighting for the oppressed, your heart can’t help but melt a little.

One of the prisoners rescued is Carwynn, a fey. She and the others were held prisoner by Amuliana, who used a dark sorceress’s power to bind them in chains, and now is incensed that Pasador has stolen her captives. I loved the rich worldbuilding and lovely slow burn of the romance between Carwynn and Pasador. As a survivor of long term slavery and trauma, Carwynn has a lot to recover from before she is ready for anything to “happen” and Pasador’s patience and care is touching, and then once things heat up between them… whew! I do love a good steamy romance
