There is an obvious reveal about halfway through this book, but Cara Hunter is so good that she managed to make it seem like something I had convinced myself I wasn't expecting. And then the real twists came, and yes, as with Close to Home, maybe there are one or two too many, but it never felt outlandish, and crucially it didn't take away from the fact that I found this a highly enjoyable read, and I will absolutely be continuing with this series

Another humdinger of a cliffhanger, this book doesn't disappoint!
I won't give anything away when I say nothing is as it seems, don't take anything at face value, and be prepared to be shocked.
Loved it so much I devoured it in just two sittings and was sad when it ended. This book really deserves to be a huge bestseller.

I liked this with it's twists and turns. It was definitely dark - if you can excuse the pun. This would have been a 5 if it weren't for the ending. The epilogue was very abrupt and left me with questions I feel like I won't get and answer to without reading further into the series but didn't like how open ended it left it. So knocked a half a star off for that. Another half a star knocked off for Quinn and his very questionable choices and some language that was used.
Will be continuing on with the series.

This story is very surprising, it kept me guessing till very late in the book what was actually going on. The book has some very dark themes, so be warned if you if you are sensitive to that.
There are a lot of characters in the book and since I listened to it on audio it was hard to keep them straight at times.
I really enjoyed the story and look forward to book 3, though I consider reading it physically to avoid the confusion with the characters.
