This book was a 2.5 but it ruined book three for me anyway because I tend to read everything in order, it wasnt that big a deal but then again after that I wasnt as emotional when it happened in book three

While I enjoyed the other novellas in this series, I didn't enjoy this one as much. The relationship between Marlee and Carter was not well filled out and the novella actually went much farther than I expected. While this is listed as 2.6 it goes beyond the end of the next book. I guess the author tried to only work with the things we already expected, that America becomes Maxon's bride and that the king dies, but it was still a bit of a shock to read them out of order.

4.5 out of 5 stars

i loved this so much! i loved seeing all that maxon had done for them during and after the canning and their lives afterwards. however, most of all, i absolutely loved the ending! seeing maxon and america on the throne and just the aftermath was spectacular.

Cute little story of Marlee and her point of view, very short but good moments to capture from her life.

Even though we already knew about that story... Most of what was going to happen and most of all how it's going to end... I loved the insight to Marlee and her struggle of loving a guard. Or non-struggle.

The only thing that bothered me is that the way they met was so clichée. Other than that, I thoroughly enjoyed this one.
