There's something about it that bugged me but I have no clue what it is. Also it was pretty predictable how it would end.
I called that James would be Gia's lifemate almost from the very beginning. And by the middle I had figured out that Holly would turn James. I just didn't know why.
I know I sound like I didn't like it, I did. I was just really sick when I read it so my perception might be skewed.  Though, now that I'm feeling better, I wonder if because Bricker is such a favorite of mine if it would be hard to meet expectations with his story.

2.5-3

Justin spent most of the book acting like a horny teen so I spent a lot of the book rolling my eyes and being annoyed...but I also kept listening because these books are an easy “read” so it wasn’t awful.

A few of the earlier books in this series were really good, but so many of these later ones are so terribly cheesy that they are humorous. That isn’t to say that I don’t like them- because I did enjoy reading this one. It’s just that they are enjoyable in a cheesy-stupid sort of way. They are by no means fine literature.

This was the first one that I read where the mortal was already married, which made it unique.
SPOILER ALERT: of course they had to pair off the husband that got left with another immortal at the end so that there would not be hard feelings. Although it still seemed a bit crazy that they were both totally okay with ending their lifelong relationship just like that. I guess that just
goes to show how little chemistry they had?

I’m going to copy my commentary from while reading below.

- 32% First of all, I love how someone finally questioned the fact that they could be aliens from a more advanced planet. Seems like a totally plausible idea. I don’t think it’s been mentioned yet in earlier books. Although I have been skipping around so I’ve missed quite a few
- Second of all, I don’t buy the whole “you can’t turn via transfusion” thing. Why wouldn’t a needle work? The nanos couldn’t run away completely because they would want to heal the wound.
- Third, I just want to say that these books are enjoyable in a cheesy-stupid funny way… not an authentically good way. I like them, but they are by no means fine literature
- 35% these guys are sort assholes for explaining it to holly in a way that makes Justin seem like an insane person who has essentially imprinted out of desperation
- 37% yaaaa I’m not happy. I don’t like this.
- There is nothing more unattractive than a guy who won’t eat a vegetable, fruit, or quiche…
- 44% I’m sorry, but what sort of adult woman with no children says “tummy” without being sarcastic?
- 49% evidence of the awful stupid cheesiness of these books- they are insisting that Justin kiss her because arousal can bring out the fangs and she needs to practice putting them away. Why not just get a cup of blood from a bag and let her sniff it? That is a much more logical way to bring out her fangs. “Bring on her passion and her fangs” omg I’m dying 😂
- “He sucked one of her flapping flips between his own” omg I assume that was in reference to her ‘flapping her mouth’ and talking too much, but omg 😂 that was awful. Omg now she just compared his 🍆 to expanding foam. Wtf is happening. Oh god and now one of the other guys just slapped Justin on the back and said “good job”. This is awful. This is a new level of awful cheesiness. It’s basically comedy.
- 84% stupid girl. You’ll NEVER be able to explain to your husband.
- 89% whatever you do, do not fucking turn him
- 95% AH HA! I knew it. James is a life mate for Gia. When I googled and she didn’t have her own book and when he got turned, I had a feeling.

Awesome Book!

After finally getting Lucian's book, Justin was the next book I was dying for. Oh my goodness! After all the torment and torture he gave to each and every person that found their life-mate before him, it was only fair that he get his share of hell. Boy, did he get just that. Bless his heart! Lol This story was perfect. Now I have to wait for the twins to each get their stories.

I listened to the audio book and enjoyed the male performer's narration. This was the first Argeneau story I've read in a whIle where the story truly felt fresh, and I enjoyed guessing where it was going to go, especially with Bricker as the male lead.

I was looking forward to Bricker's story. We've seen Bricker in several Argeneau books. He's usually the comic relief. In this one he's arrogant and all he's looking forward to is the life mate sex, to the detriment of everything else. *spoiler* Holly is married and is focused on getting back to her husband
All while Bricker is trying to romance her, if you could even call it that. It felt tsleazy to me.* this caused my enjoyment of the story to wan.

I'm disappointed, it could have been a lot better. I honestly couldn't recommend this to anyone but longtime Argeneau fans who wanted to see how they end up.

Let me precursor with... I love Lynsay Sand's Vampire Romance series. However, I really couldn't get into this one. It really lacked the situational comedy and the suspenseful action. Spoiler- most of the book took place in dreams. I also would have liked her to wrap up the whole significant other part a lot sooner. It wasn't bad but I really didn't like this one.

In general, I enjoy reading the Argeneau novels. They´re interesting and funny and not the usual vampire stories (which was a nice surprise from the 1st book). However, I found this last one a bit... boring - there's no other way to put it. It took me almost 2 weeks to finish it :( ...

I loved that this is just a romance book. There’s not a bad guy, trying to kill someone. It was really entertaining- and Bricker got what he deserved!

Vampirism as a disease like diabetes.

"...no one is this supposed normal you are thinking of."

Maybe a 3.5, but this was really a bit too angst filled for me. Bricker meets his life mate only to have her run from him. He turns her to save her life only to find out she is married and determined to keep her vows.
