Football culture isn't always exactly as this story depicts, but it gives a good idea of what it is like in Texas (and I assume other places as well) even 36 years later, especially in small towns and at powehouse schools.
I found the history of Carter High interesting as my alma mater played them a couple of times when I was a student.
I wish the book kept to a more linear timeline however I was able to keep up and enjoyed the listen.

Too much football for my taste. Even so, the issues our country is facing now are so clearly foreshadowed in parts of this sad tale. Those parts were very interesting. Bissinger is a wonderful writer, but the subject was just not one I was that into.
