It really gave me "The Outsiders" vibes. Fugitive teens with odd vocabulary. (I realize they were from the UK, but the language seemed wild, even for that setting.)

I didn't realize going in that it was a series, but it stands alone fine. I probably won't read the rest. It's definitely YA, so I'm not really the intended audience. It's a cool premise, but the execution wasn't really for me.

Num8ers was a really good book but once you read the first you have to read the second

Engaging plot and characters, and I overall really enjoyed this book. This is where I wish Goodreads would allow for half star ratings! Its engagement with its themes was perhaps at time a little simplistic, and the epilogue felt somewhat formulaic, but Jem and Spider were really interesting characters and I wish I could have seen more from them. I'm not quite sure this book needed a sequel, it seems to me that the story was pretty nicely rounded as it was, but if I happen to run into it for cheap I'll give it a shot. I would recommend this for fans of YA fiction, particularly those who like their YA with just a hint of (but not too much) darkness.

Interesting plot but it got me frustrated halfway through.

it was intriguing until it wasn't. it was still a good read but it lost an awful lot of momentum at the peak time of the book.
also there's way too many ableist slurs. I guess it makes sense for jem as a character but it's distasteful. I like that we saw a lot of her thinking, I don't like that we didn't see much action. not exciting action but action in general. an awful lot of the book stood still as we delved way too deeply into her mind.
the way the numbers thing was handled was silly... it really feels like I haven't read the ending even though I did a mere 30 mins ago. I look forward to reading the second in the series to see what it's like written from different characters' perspective.
every action made from every character makes no sense. even minor characters like Britney. it just makes no sense. it makes it very hard to read without rolling one's eyes

This was a very quick read, and not quite what I thought. Based on the cover and back cover summary I thought it would be a sci-fi-adventure-futuristic type story. Rather, it was a coming of age drama where Jem (protagonist)simply has the ability to see the date that people die.

Not to say I didn't enjoy the story- which I mostly did- it was like biting into a pickle thinking it's a dill pickle but turns out to be a sweet bread and butter pickle. Not bad, but not what you expected.

One thing that didn't seem to get resolved was the whole terrorist/bombing/police issue.

As the first book in the series, it will be interesting to see if/how the loose ends are wrapped up and how the story continues.
