This is a very important book because it really shows exactly what life is like in Gaza. I had a vague idea of what living in Gaza was like, but it is many times worse than I ever thought. It is vengeful. It makes my blood boil.
It feels very wry to read this book now, when there is a genocide going on in Gaza. It seems like nothing has changed in all these years. While reading, I kept asking myself what Mr. Abuelaish thinks about it now, whether he is still hopeful that this conflict will ever stop. It all feels very double. I think he is one of the most peace-loving people on earth. It's admirable that even after losing his 3 daughters, he was able to stay in life like this. We can all learn a lot from this man.
Keep asking for a cease fire! Free Palestine!
