Even though you know how the story ends, this book is a page turner. Passion about the subject, good writing style and in depth research make the characters come alive. You feel like you know these people by the time you finish the book. I have enjoyed all of Macintyre's spy histories so far. Can't wait to ready another.

Not a biography by any means, but this light reading does provide insight into the relationship Kim Philby shared with his colleagues.

I have enjoyed every book I have read by Ben MacIntyre. This one does not disappoint. MI6 when it was made up of people who belonged to the right sort of clubs, where questions were not asked if you belonged. Allowed Philby and others to exist for years inside MI6. Lots of interesting insight into the psychology of spies. And a personally interesting afterword by John le Carre with a mention of Shergy, our downstairs neighbor in London.

Superb. A great recounting of the life of Kim Philby, interspersed with a condensed history of mid 20th-century espionage.

A very detailed - and sometimes tedious - recounting of double agent Kim Philby.

Fascinating story, one that I had never really known about but couldn’t put it down by the end.
