The final volume and conclusion of this series really fills you with warmth. I didn't cry, but it really pulled at my heartstrings. These kids find heal and closure. Sally gets a taste of her own medicine, Yuushin and Sora reconcile (sort of), and Tsugu faces up to the reality of her family. They all go back home and there is closure with their childhood friendship.
There are two bonus stories. One is a funny one about Tsugu trying to run despite her boobs. The other story is a standalone that specializes in mangaka Kaori Ozaki's ability to pull at your heartstring focusing on a soul born to a poor, single teenaged mom. It takes on reincarnation and forgiveness, and it avoids being too maudlin.

The ending of this series was quick, but it sets it up for growing for the four kids. This series shows the complexities of their relationships between one another, and as a group, and they are trying to work things out. I’m glad that Sora said that he wouldn’t forgive Yuushin for what he did to him. He needs that in order to grow, and I think Yuushin understands that as well.

I know people being up what Yuushin did to Asari, and he was definitely in the wrong there, but I feel if the story expanded more we would see their bad sides and good sides more. Yuushin changed as a person, to where he hurt his friends, but he was also hurting. They do not have to forgive him, like Sora, but it seems like they are trying to grow and live their life again.

They have been friends for so long as well that when something like that happens, trying to reconcile or not forgive is what happens. Asari was the one to make that decision, and she did what she felt was best for her. Maybe I’m ranting and trying to play both sides of the characters, but they are teenagers and they grow from their mistakes (even if they are bad). Growing up is extremely hard, and having their own family experiences and thoughts play a huge part in it.

A great ending to this small series. I’m happy with how things wrapped up and am glad it ended on a good note.

The short story at the end of the book emotionally wrecked me, though. I totally wasn’t prepared for that. Hot dang.
