One better than the other

Enjoyed the one with crabs much more than the sea god which just seemed to drawl one for too long. Both well written all the same and two decent shortish stories

I received this collection for free thanks to bookbub's suggestion a couple of weeks ago.

I rather enjoyed the stories and the writing. There were a few disjointed sentences/grammar errors, if I remember correctly, in the first short story (They Came With The Snow). The idea was neat - but I personally wasn't a big fan of this short story. It seems to be well received though - so I hope the author continues with it.

I actually liked the second short story/novella more than I expected to. This one actually made me want to keep reading. The characters were interesting and relatable; I thought the author wrote their non-verbal cues and how they reacted to each other very well.

The only aspect I wasn't a big fan of, and another reviewer mentioned this, was the playback scenes from different POVs. I found it broke the flow of the story. That being said, it wasn't unreadable - though I'll confess to my faux-pas of skipping ahead during the second POV to the part I wanted to read.

Overall I'd give the first story a 2.5 and the second story a 3.5 (Hence the 3/5 rating for Goodreads).

The first book is a short read. It held my attention. It was scary. The second book was much longer and terrifying for me. There is a lot to think about in this story. I am interested to see where the author takes it.
