A dissapoinment. This one took me by surprise because I usually like Heather Boyd and I loved the other books in the series. But this one had very little romance and the story wasn't of my liking. It was a slog to get through.

A fucking murder mystery? Yes. Every single yes. We love a strong, intelligent and daring heroine in polite society here. Theodora Dalton, can I just say how much I love the name Theodora? Anyway, Theodora’s home burns down in the middle of the night with her dear father inside. Now homeless and essentially penniless Theodora and her mother are offered a place to stay with their neighbour. Enter Quinn Ford. He offers them to stay with him whilst the investigation takes place. Will it be that simple? Hell no. Of course, it’s presumed that Theodora’s father deliberately set the fire and killed himself. Obviously, Theodora does not and cannot believe that so she starts to investigate herself.
The attraction between Quinn and Theodora was slow but there was an undercurrent just there. Waiting to boil over. I enjoyed the different take of the romance, I like how a murder mystery was included just to add that little bit extra. There was enough mystery and suspense to keep you entertained and on edge, but not enough to take away from the main genre which is romance.
I have got to say though that Boyd writes very good sex scenes. They are very steamy and enjoyable. Thank you. Her writing as usual is impeccable and enjoyable. World building is as usual very good, and her characters and the part they play in the story works and no one is there unnecessarily.
