Il protagonista è Rudy un ragazzo di 25 anni che lavora per un organizzazione lgbtq, lavoro che ama moltissimo anche grazie al rapporto che è riuscito ad instaurare con i colleghi.
Non è mai stato bravo nelle relazioni, perché molto insicuro di se stesso, e questo lo fa sentire sempre non all'altezza degli altri in amore. Qualcosa sembra cambiare quando in ufficio arriva Zac, un ragazzo molto bello, da cui Rudi è attratto fin da subito, con il quale però non riesce a instaurare un rapporto. Zac è una persona molto chiusa in sé stessa, riservata, che non fa trapelare molto di se, non si unisce mai ai colleghi quando escono e sembra essere completamente focalizzato sul suo lavoro. Una sera verrà però obbligato dal capo ad uscire per festeggiare tutti insieme e questo forse farà nascere qualcosa tra i due ragazzi.

Ho trovato veramente dolce la storia che cresce piano piano tra i due ragazzi, entrambi molto impacciati, insicuri, anche se in modo diverso, e con delle storie completamente all'opposto. Rudy infatti ha una grande famiglia che gli vuole bene che gli è sempre stato accanto Zac invece al contrario ha sempre dovuto cavarsela da solo.
Per una serie di avvenimenti Zac si ritroverà a festeggiare il Natale con la famiglia di Rudy e forse a provare per la prima volta quella sensazione di calore intorno a lui che gli farà sciogliere il cuore e abbattere i muri che si era creato intorno a sé per proteggersi.

Una storia veramente molto dolce, divertente, piena di amore, in tutte le sue sfaccettature, perfetta da leggere sotto l'albero.
Non mancheranno i momenti più seri ed introspettivi con una vena malinconica che andranno a scavare nell'intimità dei due protagonisti. Una delle cose che più ho apprezzato di questa storia è il suo essere graduale perché anche se l'attrazione è quasi immediata la crescita della relazione tra i due cresce lentamente, si prendono entrambi i loro tempi e questo rende il racconto molto più verosimile.

Mi è molto piaciuto come J. Northcott abbia inserito la tematica lgbt all'interno della storia, ha trattato l'argomento veramente molto bene, con il giusto rispetto, forse anche perché fa parte di questa comunità e si percepisce veramente tanto quanto le stia a cuore questo argomento.

Una storia d'amore natalizia veramente molto piacevole, dolce e ben scritta che coinvolge fin da subito grazie allo stile molto scorrevole, semplice e diretto dell'autrice.

This was like so many things I love put together how could I not love it?? Boy whose an orphan and stays detached from everyone, guy with big (amazing, loving, wacky family), fake relationship, animals.

It’s nice to read a book where the characters being queer isn’t even a thing. There’s no coming out, there’s no surprise from any of the family members that he brought a guy home.

And the family in this book felt so real - caring and kind but also fucking ridiculous and weird. I’ve only started dipping my toe into Jay’s books but I’m so excited to read more

So basically... "I loved him for afar" for about a month and then I got drunk and tried to make out with him. Threw up all over myself and him and then shared a bed together. Oh guess what - he's coming to my family's home for xmas and now we're boyfriends.

It's cute and fluffy and i was more interested in the storyline than the sex.

There's a passing comment on a trans man - which is great (of course it is) but not sure how it was relevant to the story?

coworkers go from bitchy to friendly to back to bitchy. Relationship definitely rushed too soon for 2 people in their early twenties.

Adorable but not believable.

I really enjoyed this book. Rudy is 24. He's shy and inexperienced. Jay joined the company Rudy works for and he keeps to himself. Rudy is definitely smitten. Jay ends up coming out for drinks with everyone from the office. Both Rudy and Jay have too much to drink. They end up spending the night together but nothing happens. Rudy invites Jay to come home with him for Christmas. Jay has never had a traditional home. Rudy has everything Jay has ever dreamed of. During the holiday Rudy and Jay get close. They open up to each other. A positive and hopeful book.
