When I started reading this I couldn’t believe it had taken so long to get this published in the UK as I was completely engrossed very quickly. I loved the damaged FBI agent haunted by personal demons, the gruesome nature of the murders and the wide circle of characters that were perfectly drawn and by turns endearing or just horrid. Also liked the fact that it was set somewhere I wasn’t altogether familiar with, giving an insight into the lives of the rich and privileged. This is a tricky one because for 500 odd pages of this book I thought it was terrific but all the excellent work was undone by a distinctly schmalzy, rushed and quite implausible ending- as if a cold blooded killer would really give two hoots about a kid with ‘Rain Man’ tendencies and how the two most emotionally damaged people in Monte Carlo look set to live happily ever after!

Even though I don't enjoy reading extra puffed best, thrilling, tensionnotseensincestephenking crime books, "I kill" was actually good. It isn't different from other crime stories, we have clichés like an american inspector, complicated love story, drugs, drama and all other necessary ingredients to make 600 pages worth reading. However, the serial-killer story is original, and I hate to admit it, really interesting.
It is not "winning-Pulitzer" good book, but if you cut parts of "google facts about random things like photo-sharpening explained in details" it is definitely worth reading :D

Once I started this book, I couldn't put it down. Frank Ottobre is an FBI agent that is trying to pull his life together after his Wife's suicide, and trying to decide if he will continue working for the FBI. Frank is visiting his good friend, Nicholas Hulot. Nicholas is a Police Inspector with the Monte Carlo Police Department, and the two have worked together before. Murders don't usually happen in Monte Carlo, but Nicholas has been called into to investigate a brutal double murder on a yard, and he realizes quickly that he needs Frank's expertise to solve the case.

The subject matter of this book is horrific, and it isn't for the faint of heart. It is long, but the story moved along swiftly.
