I liked this a lot! Maybe novellas are for me, I’m just picky

The story was romantic, and I loved the fact that Chih as a source of truth was challenged throughout the book. The tigers weren’t perfect either, but their cultural context allowed them to look deeper into the happenings than Chih’s recorded version. very interesting exploration of who writes history and what it means when a story is removed from its original context

the only reason this isn’t a 5 is because I found the interruptions didn’t flow as smoothly as the previous book

Oh yes. Some people are just more... edible than others if you are a tiger.

Cleric Chih is back for another adventure. This time a once in a lifetime opportunity to ride a mammoth goes sideways when they cross paths with hungry tigers, who really want a taste of their flesh. Armed with only their wits, and no Almost Brilliant!, Chih will have to keep the tigers at bay by retelling a story of a tiger and her lover doing their best to avoid upsetting the hungry felines.

Entertaining but a bit disorganized. Loved learning more about the world, the mammoths, the traditions of the north, and even supernatural beings like the tigers, but wasn't 100% sold on the story Chih was reciting nor the interruptions by the tigers. I still had fun and fully recommend reading it, I just don't have a lot to comment about it.

“I am yours, and so I will be your light and your laughter. I am yours, so open your eyes to look at me, and open your mouth so that I may kiss it. I am yours, I am yours, and nevermore will I leave.”

Sometimes two women love each other very much and it's wonderful and sometimes one of those women is a tiger and that's really beautiful and I just ough women

I gasped, I kicked my feet, I wished desperately for mammoths not to be extinct.

I enjoyed this immensely, even more than The Empress of Salt and Fortune which I quite a bit. I really appreciated the distinctions between the human and tiger stories, and the world is well crafted.
