This book is another swoon-worthy historical romance from Julia Quinn! The story is the perfect amount of predictable, hopeful, amd cheesy. It has plenty of romantic lines to leave readers smiling, as most of Quinn's books tend to have.
With books like this, you go in knowing exactly what to expect and yet I have yet to find one of Quinn's novels boring!

Maaaan if I didn't know for a fact that this book would have an HEA I would have been FREAKING OUT at the beginning. Luckily it is a ROMANCE. It was so good.

I don’t really have much to say about this book, honestly. It wasn’t bad, I just wouldn’t recommend it to someone. Compared to the Bridgerton and Rokesby series, it didn’t bring much to the table that we haven’t already seen. However, that perception of mine, might’ve been slightly influenced by how much Marcus reminded me of Simon from “The Duke and I”.
If you would describe yourself as a person who’s into “The Florence Nightingale Effect”, then 100%, this book is for you. Although, personally, I liked it better in “The Girl with the Make-Believe Husband” from the Rokesby series.
What I truly appreciated about this book, was the insight into the Smythe-Smith family and their musical evenings. I especially enjoyed the dynamic between the girls in the quartet. Their camaraderie and (almost) mutual detest of the annual musical performance, was quite cute. After having read the Bridgerton series, it's pretty nice to look from their perspective. The Smythe-Smith's musical "talents" were definitely mocked quite a bit in the main series. From everybody, pretty much. The leads, the supporting characters, Lady Whistledown, you name it. This sort of feels like a well-deserved redemption for the Smythe-Smiths. And I'm in full support. However, I believe this is most likely the case for the following three books, as well.
All in all, it was a relaxing read. Not one of my favorites from Julia Quinn, though.

everybody and their mammas told me the Smythe-Smith series was good, better than the Bridgerton series by the same author, and they were right but this didn’t give me that ooey gooey macaroni & cheese feeling at all. it is pretty plain, the intense injury description in the middle feels at odds with the fluffiness and humor of the rest, and the ending is rushed. the concept of a quartet that just sucks and plays begrudgingly is cute and funny and i liked those characters.

Another fun addition to the bridgerton-verse. The characters are all likeable and the plot is interesting enough to keep you entertained. I'm here for the tried and true plot formula - in the words of Ron Swanson, "I know what I'm about, son."

Lo amé. Desde la portada (que es simplemente hermosa), hasta el fin del libro, me hizo reír mucho, y además tiene esa sensación de época que no muchos autores de romance histórico logran conseguir. El romance es, como dice el título, adorable (me gusta más este título que el original, eso es raro en mí). Definitivamente leeré más de Julia Quinn, me encantó su estilo. Empezando por terminar este cuarteto.

Wow, I loved it. Honoria is a lovely heroine and Marcus is a wonderful hero. He’s a genuinely kind person, not a total dickhead like several “rake” heroes tend to be.
I’m a huge sucker for a good hurt/comfort story. I didn’t expect that at all from this book, so it was such a pleasant surprise. I’m excited to continue with this series and this family.

Jag hade glömt hur mycket jag gillar Julia Quinns böcker men den här tog min tillbaka till Londons baler. Om du gillade Brigerton böckerna måste du läsa den här serien också.
Boken handlar om Honoria som i år ska spela i den välkända Smythe-Smith-kvartetten och om hennes jakt på en make.
Bokens andra huvudperson är Marcus, Honorias brors bästa vän. Marcus är inte direkt på jakt efter en fru men han är fast bestämd på att se till att Honoria gifter sig med en bra man.
Det råkar bara vara så att Marcus är lite för bra på att vrika foten och har lite för tajta skor. Honoria däremot har perfekta röda skor.
Oerhört underhållande och rolig läsning. Boken har samma känsla som Brigerton böckerna och är minst lika bra. Rekommenderar starkt denna första bok i en bok-kvartette, speciellt för Brigerton-älskarna.
