it was an ugly, hard and unpleasant book. i didn’t like mmc. he was supposed to be a former investigative reporter but he went into the assignment of writing a book blind, trusting only gossip and tabloids. don’t reporters have to be objective?

mmc’s stand on women:

“Women were, after all, born with guile. They were fashioned to masquerade as helpless, vulnerable creatures. Until they had their hooks in you. To shake free, you had to bleed a little. Then if you were smart, you took a hard look at the scars from time to time to remind yourself how life really worked.”

This was a good book about Abby life on her farm, and her character development as well as Dylan's character development. My one problem with the book, is that as the reader,
we never get any update as to how the biography is received by the public, how the biography is received by Chuck's mom, and perhaps a follow-up on Dylan's and Abby's life.
It almost feels as though the end is a sharp cut-off. I am aware that this book is part of a series and that there may be resolution as the series continues, but it was a sharp ending.
