A beautiful book. Like a story for the soul. It can be read as a standalone too.

Light cozy series set in 1930's Britain. Lady Georgie Rannoch may be a duke's sister, but that doesn't mean she's not a poor relation. Desperate to escape her grudging sister-in-law for the holidays, she finds a position as a social hostess for a house party. As the locals start dropping, she starts sleuthing.

Super cozy read that is perfect for the holidays and filled with delicious food and cheer. Wouldn't call it a great mystery, however, and the ending was definitely a bit of a fizzle in more ways than one.
Also hard not to get frustrated at Georgiana at times. Overall enjoyable and fast, just don't expect too much.

A pleasant cozy mystery with a tongue-in-cheek "traditional English Christmas."

This is the latest entry in the "Royal Spyness" series of mysteries featuring Lady Georgianna (Georgie) who is 35th in line to the throne. Set in the 1930s, Georgie can't stand the thought of spending Christmas at dreary Castle Rannoch in Scotland with her unpleasant sister-in-law and relatives. Georgie's family is in financial straits and she is being pressured to marry well so her brother and his wife don't have to continue supporting her. She has been creative in the past in finding small employment opportunities. She answers an ad to help out with a Christmas house party arranging social activites and escapes to a small village. The lady of the house has promised a traditional English Christmas for her guests. However, no one expects murder to be part of the plans. Mysterious deaths start occuring every day leading up to the new year. Georgie gets help in solving the crimes from her love interest, Darcy, and her grandfather who is visiting nearby with her infamous actress mother who is working on a play with Noel Coward. This is another entertaining addition to the series featuring familiar and endearing characters, and wonderful details about English holiday traditions (the book concludes with some recipes and instructions for games). I'd give this 3 1/2 stars - the series keeps getting better.
