The first issue is relatively slow-moving: it's all setup of the world, so not that much to say. Lots of potential for exploring human-AI relations (and transhumanism in general) in an interesting way, but also lots to slide into well-trod territory.
The opening was a little expositiony, but I don't read many sci-fi comics so I don't know if it's a common way to handle giving the background. The other option that leaps immediately to mind is the convenient eavesdropping on a conversation about the issue. And some of that happens later when he's talking to his grandmother, and works a little better because it's not all in one massive panel.
The art didn't strike me as particularly outstanding, but the simple lines and shapes go well with the overlays of things like the holoscreens. I think this story is going to be more overall slice-of-life, so it remains to be seen how the lighter colors will work with that. Probably better than they would if this story suddenly goes down a thriller route.

I liked the depressing outlook of the future & the way technology has really been integrated into every aspect of life.

Pretty decent first issue to this sci-fi story. Got me hooked enough to read issue two. We’ll see where it goes from there.

I was a little worried that this book would fall into the Born Sexy Yesterday trope. And I'm glad it didn't.

interesting story. I enjoy the discussion of personhood and rights. Art is good but not my fav style.

Really enjoyed this take on sentience and the right to sense of self.

Artificial intelligence. Scary stuff. I got this first chapter for free, I'm undecided if I'll continue. I liked the layout of the pages, but reading this right after a McKelvie binge was a bad call. Still, interesting nonetheless.
