So, I don’t know what I was expecting when I picked up this book–but I was very pleasantly surprised! I mean, I figured I’d like it based on the synopsis but…. I really, really enjoyed it!

Megan, the heroine, undergoes major character growth through this novel. And it’s not surprising, given what she goes through. I really can honestly say I loved her character.

I also really loved the eerie feel that the story had. When people liken this story to Phantom of the Opera–they are spot on. I couldn’t help but see Megan as Christine, and Bellamy as the mysterious Phantom.

From start to finish, I was HOOKED.

The only thing I didn’t really get, I guess was one of the plot points in the very beginning. And Megan even addresses this later in the novel to Bellamy–when she asks him how he accomplished something (not giving this away)… And there was never any explanation–and it was kind of a big deal.

But, besides that, I felt that the author did a beautiful job of tying up loose ends and leaving the reader as satisfied as possible.

Although, I wouldn’t be sad to have a sequel!!!

I struggled with the rating for this book. It was a solid read. I was never going to go under a 3 but I struggled enough that I will keep it at a 3 instead of 3.5 or 4. The main reason for the struggle is because the blurb for the book kind of doesn't fully match the book. It's almost like that was written first and then the book shaped itself later on.

I tried hard to like Megan more..but she made that very difficult. She had not only danced ballet but then she went on to be a climber..and was very good at it. Having sponsors and all. How bad ass is that? But her running every time something bad happened ( and a couple of times it was literal. She legit just ran out the door and left.) was very off putting. Even when I tried to put myself in her mindset. She is 17. She has some trauma. But it just happened on time too many so i was over it. I liked Liam. I liked his character growth as the book went on. Bellamy remained a mystery from beginning to end. Does he have magic? I feel like he used magic at the beginning. But then he just seemed different for lack of a better term for the rest of the book. but no magic. BUT I REALLY FEEL LIKE THAT WAS MAGIC? I don't know.

The book kept a pretty steady pace through out. Something was always happening to keep it flowing. I didn't get the killer at all. I thought I did but I was way wrong and it was good. I really liked how it ended because again...Bellamy. He is a puzzle that I'm not sure I want solved. And I mean that in a good way.

When I was approached by Morgan on goodreads to read this book I was definitely on board. The book opens up with Megan "Red" Van Helsburg in a pickle. She has suffered a accident. That accident caused her career to take a blow. She was a climber you see. Because of her injury she's forced to go back to Novia Scotia. She picks up ballet to try and strengthen herself again. After all she lost her coach, sponsors, and anything else having to do with her climbing. There is something eerie going around the streets of Novia Scotia. A murderer is loose on the streets and the ballerinas from the ballet theater, a place Megan is used to from which she was a little girl.

There's something else weird going on. Megan meets a man by the name of Bellamy and after snopping around she finds out he's living under the theater, but that doesn't stop her from falling for him. In some weird way she looks up to him. When the ballet puts on a show, Megan realizes the eerie similarities between it and the murders. Join Megan as she continues to investigate further and try to balance her relationship with Belamy.

This book was great, I definitely got "Phantom of the Opera" vibes and I wouldn't be against a Bellamy stand alone novel. Tortured souls are my fave to read about. I really loved how the author incorporated ballet into this novel. I admire ballet dancers because the discipline they have to go through and their resilience against the pain that comes with perfecting it. I really can't wait to get a physical copy of the book. It's just beautiful and a amazing tale. Huge thanks to Morgan Shamy for providing me with a free book in exhange for an honest review.

The Redpoint Crux is a gripping story with intriguing characters. It didn't take long for me to be completely immersed in the story. There were a few things I thought needed a little more attention and explanation, but I felt the author did a fantastic job creating a mood of page-turning suspense with some romance too. Megan is quite the character. She jumps (literally) from one thing to the next, but I liked that about her. I really enjoyed the way the story was told, it's very pleasing for me to read books with point of view changes. This book has a great flow to it and the ending was awesome! There are so many great twists and turns, I was left guessing until the last page!

Ummmm, okay - when do we get Book #2!?!! This story is not over.

This read took me a while to get through, but not because it was a hard read - I loved the beautiful prose, the creepy setting (the faces
Spoilercarved in the stone
, hellooooo) and the subtle 'horror' of the journey I went on while reading.

I saw an interview with author Morgan Shamy and like the other readers she mentioned, I don't have a clue
Spoilerwho the killer is
. Therefore, I require Book #2 so I can read on!

Review:
This is the debut book of [a:Morgan Shamy|18494856|Morgan Shamy|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1581345247p2/18494856.jpg]. Before this, I’d read only one story with a ballerina as a protagonist. It was an erotic romance – The Risk by Caitlin Crews. Ballet not being that popular in my country, India, it made me appreciate their careers, the hardships they have to face from a tender age in order to survive and thrive in this field. And now to have read this story by a professional ballerina is just what I needed!

The story starts in August where Red is dying from a punctured lung after she suffers a fall. Come September, Liam finds himself at his parents’ theatre. Red has no option but to go back as her coach gave up on her after her supposedly turning slowly into her sick mother and being in denial about it. Her mother’s in a mental institution.
My children are what keep this theatre alive. You have no idea what treasure they hold.

With appropriately named chapters and third-person narration, this story is off to a mysterious start. A promising ballerina turned famous rock climber, banned from the U.S.A. National Team due to an ‘incident’, Red has experienced quite the life at her young age, starting with her parents. The famous violinist Stewart Van Helsburg was murdered some seven years ago and Megan Van Helsburg changed her identity to Red Tucker in order to leave her old life behind.

It is atmospheric from the beginning with a lot of eeriness. A possibly haunted theatre, a serial killer who’s back, the promise of a hidden treasure, someone lurking beneath the infamous theatre, and what appears to be at first an unconventional romance. More deaths and horrifying events make everyone scared to work at the theatre, but the show is never really over …
Memories are the past, Megan. The present is alive. The present is more real than any object. Memories are sitting inside of us wishing to be lived again—but they never will be. That is unhealthy time traveling.

This story is as ethereal as it is frightening. The character of Bellamy felt unreal! A wraith-like figure, he remained an enigma till the very end. The story held me in its grip, breath-taking in its build-up, this book can be said to be the ballet version of [b:The Phantom of the Opera|480204|The Phantom of the Opera|Gaston Leroux|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1327867727l/480204._SY75_.jpg|2259720] by Gaston Leroux. I haven’t yet read that classic but I look forward to reading it now. Another thing that I really liked was the friendship that Liam and Megan shared, without any love triangle or anything else to spoil it. Just pure friendship.

A grand production for the climax, with the identity of the crazed murderer, kept a mystery right till the very end, this is a read I’d definitely recommend. It would have got infinite stars from me though had I not felt sad about a part which had a tragic ending as well as the characters I was waiting to hear more of, like the kilt-wearing Scotsman Thomas MacDaniel. But I loved Shamy’s world, and look forward to reading all her future works!

Thank you to The Parliament House Press for an e-ARC of the book.

Wow. I was hooked very quickly. I found myself rooting for the main character, Red, all the way through. It had some great twists and turns and I would definitely recommend. Another great book by Morgan.

Sad and mysterious are the two adjectives that come to mind when I think of this book.
