I was skeptical at the beginning of this, but I ended up really enjoying it. There was character development and a plot that had important information and progress. It was nice to follow a different character in this world, and see a cute and wholesome romance play out. I don’t know if this will end up being necessary to read, but I feel like regardless it was still purposeful.

I wasn’t sure what to expect from this but I ended up really loving it. This series is really special to me and I’m so happy that Brandon decided to let Janci write in this world so we can get these stories! FM was such a fun POV character and I was very excited to get more screen time with
Spoiler all the slugs!

Probably more 3.5 stars but I'm being generous. It was ok as a novella. I guess, I wasn't really wondering what was going on back home on Detritus. Spensa is such an interesting character that I like having her as the main focus. I didn't enjoy the more YA romance in this book. But I did like seeing more of the Doom slugs. Did I really need to read this? Not sure. But I'm glad I could check it off and go onto book 3 of the series.
