Fast and Fun

A great quick read that has some great moments with the other characters of the flight group. Add in cool pets and space fighter action to make this a fun ride all the way through!

this was a light, fun short story about what happened while spensa was on starsight during the end of the book.

found myself skimming a lot of the book tbh, but still managed to get the essential bits (probably how i finished it in an hour). i really dont think it needed to be 200 pages, and it definitely felt very YA with the romance arc + FM frequently talking about her love life, which is odd and out of character for her. but, i thought the scenes with the taynix were super cute and i hope we see them more!

I loved that Sanderson (and Patterson) decided to write these novellas about some of the supporting characters that move the story along and give us a bigger picture of what's going on. This one is centered around FM, who we meet in the second book, but who doesn't have much page time. I loved getting to know her, and I especially loved her heart for others, including the Taynix. In fact, I loved learning more about these cytonic slugs and wanted one of one of my own. The voicing Suzy Jackson gives to the slugs is perfect and exactly how I heard it in my head when I first read about them. Although this story takes place from FM's point of view, we get more of Rig and Jorgen, which made my heart happy. I loved the scenes where FM shared her love of music. I am jumping straight into ReDawn next!

Two stars for "It was okay," not bad. I just don't care as much about the other characters as I do about Sensa. I've actually never ventured into the world of supplemental novellas before, but it seemed so much like important things were happening backstage that I thought these might actually be important to the central plot by the time the next proper novel comes out. Maybe true, maybe not. I heavily skimmed all the battle scenes, because I just don't care. Learning how the slugs work WAS interesting, just not sure it was worth the time invested since I bet there'll be a recap whenever it becomes relevant to the main novels.

Will I read any of the other two (three?) novellas? Mmmmeh....

Sunreach has honestly exceeded my expectations. I was so scared because I heard this was a bit too YA and that Sanderson didn't write it, but the storyline turned out just amazing.

I'm so glad that we get to see the process of them learning to use Hyperdrives.it was fun and rewarding. I also love the banter we got here, though sometimes it does feel a little too forced (which has never been the case for the previous books), but everything else makes up for it. I love reading from FM's POV and found out more about her because we always see her as this calm and collected human being, so to see her feelings throughout everything was a reward for me. I love her interaction with the slugs too... Omg so cute...

A good little fantasy novella, only around 5 hours on audio book. Definitely allowed me to get back into the Skyward world right away and remember how much I enjoy the setting and characters here. This novella made me like FM and Rig infinitely more, as well as filling in what I'm sure are going to be crucial back-story events during "Cytonic".

Excited to read the next novella, and then Cytonic itself!

This was fantastic, especially considering the fact that it's fanfiction! I can't wait for the next ones!
