Nature inspired poetry reflecting on humanity, nature, the interplay and the human condition.
Mary Oliver is sublime and refreshing.

I.
Love.
Poetry.
I would give this a 4.5 if I could. It spoke to me in many voices and for that I am grateful. A quick read but all I ever needed from a poetry collection and more

Mary Oliver seemed to be reflective and grateful, and her writing stirs the reader to consider the small ways in which the world turns every day unnoticed. Her writing is beautiful and kind. I found myself feeling more thankful, more aware, and called to consider what more I could do for the earth we get to be part of.

Poems that stood out:
  • I go down to the shore
  • The Gardener
  • Poem of the One World
  • The Mockingbird**
  • Of the father
  • Was it Necessary to do it?
  • The Morning Paper

I chanced upon this book in a cafe in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia only because I recognised the name “Mary Oliver” from somewhere. It was simply put, wonderful. I am not one who is experienced with reading poems but this one quickly spoke to me. I was careful, rushed it a few times but I went back to it, and now, I want a copy to always go back to it.

It’s sweet, a little sad and bitter at times, but it reminded me of the inner quiet I want in my life when I was experiencing such chaos.
