I found this book in the library at work and it looked intriguing and like an easy read so I picked it up. It is intended for young adults but I think even adults would enjoy and benefit from the message. I highly recommend it.

What does a community garden mean? These very short vignettes reveal how a grass-roots community garden fosters an urban community. Inspiring, very quick read.

I'm always looking for gardening books for young readers. The different perspectives of all the gardeners who joined in to transform the city lot was diverse in character and intent. I organize a community garden for a local library and i think about all the energy and stories the gardeners bring to that little patch of ground.

This book was a quick read!
I picked it up at the little free neighborhood library and read through it quickly. It’s fast pace and very engaging.

A community garden rises out of a garbage-strewn lot in Cleveland, bringing together a wealth of neighbors from distant countries. Each tells us his or her own story. The effect is a bit like the living patchwork quilt of their garden! The author's strong faith in the redemptive power of community and of working with the land shines through the book. Each character's voice is distinct and engaging, each story draws you in. A triumph of storytelling. Almost makes me want to go out and plant a garden myself!
