This was another fast-paced adventure continuing the story of Brian from The Hatchet. However this is not going to be appropriate for all middle schoolers. It was much more gruesome than what I remember from the rest of the series... description of 2 people who are killed, maulled and/or eaten by a bear

Content warning: animal attacks (this was not an option in the content warning drop down list).aus10england's review against another edition

Well, this was certainly the darkest book in the Hatchet series. It was super exciting for sure, but I wish we had more build up, didn’t really understand why Brian needed to be out in the forest. This book also does a lot of telling not showing towards the end which I didn’t love. Overall, happy to have read all the books in the series! Middle grade is great for some easy reading.
