I Am Lilith

This book describes the story of Lilith as you may not have heard it before..the fall of the matriarchy with Lilith refusing to be under Adam and therefor being overthrown as High priestess and ruler, with the patriarchy in the form of Adam coming in to take over.

I loved the description of the time when women ruled, all of their beautiful, magical rituals and secrets. I could really relate to this time and it felt like I’d been there myself in a past life.

The takeover of women and the hope for equality with men by Lilith (which was before it’s time) really touched me as the possibility was there but the time was not right, until now.

The choosing of and playing of their roles (like actors on a stage), then lifetime after lifetime going through all the pain (especially Lilith) we can see how this needed to come about for equality to start to come into play in this lifetime.

There is so much to say about this book and so much depth to it. It’s sensual, intriguing, magical and powerful and.a review just doesn’t do it justice, I highly recommend just reading it! Would also love to see a movie or series of this book produced too

The narrative story is interesting enough but the astrological/reincarnation rambling at the end ruined it for me.

What a different view of the Adam and eve story weve all been told.

This book has probably a very strong message on sexism. But it did not intrigue me enough to continue reading it. Maybe one day it will.

The story seemed interesting but I couldn’t get past the writing. It was really weird and was hard to follow. Just wasn’t for me.

I read the phrase "and have you received a lover's shaft milk of late?" and I stopped. I never DNFd so fast in my life.

I hated this. It attempts grandeur and philosophy that it is incapable of. It strikes at religious and spiritual themes without following its own logic. Are we all gods, with the power of the universe in our hands? Or are we just humans, subject to the wheel of time and history? Somehow, in this book, we are both. We are a human incapable of swimming against fate, and also the creators of fate incapable of interceding on behalf of the suffering because we are also, somehow, subject to fate. In this view of the world, we are the most important thing imaginable but also completely incapable of doing anything of consequence. Lilith is a pawn in a game being played by Lilith. A complete abdication of responsibility on either side of the equation. Even for those who are interested in the interplay of Human-God-Universe-Fate-History-Morality-Suffering.. this book does little more than meander around the topic, somehow enthusiastically insisting on an incomplete thought.

Ultimately, this is crunchy-cult bullshit. Pseudo feminism. Astrological musings of an individual, insisting that they are universal truths. There are red flags throughout, but the most obvious is in the last chapter, "A woman so lost to herself she cannot find or trust her instinctive knowing, heeding shortsighted opinions on how she and her young should be treated with harmful medicines, ready to hand over her power and comply."

I can't imagine anyone who doesn't already align with the beliefs of the author could truly enjoy this book. This book, apart from all other investigation, is a poorly written plot with inconsistent characters in a form clearly borrowed from other, better authors. Save yourself the time. I genuinely don't understand how it's currently rated so highly.
