Okay so I'm rather pissed that I literally can't read this. I tried, I really did because I absolutely hate not finishing things, but this just kills me to read. Firstly, she's married, and from the sound of it, acts like her relationship is normal and not like they argue, it's just that she's in love with this twat from college, and settled for someone she didn't love because he didn't want to settle down.
First chance she gets, she's jumping on him and agreeing to anything he says.
It wasn't just the story to this point that got to me, is was the writing and characters. Everything seemed a bit too formal or something... I don't know, it was stiff and I couldn't connect. As for the characters, Alex shit me to tears, and she was so self involved, saying she cared about her children (not so much her husband I noticed) but one touch and she was like goo and didn't care anymore.

If I could rate this book any lower, I would. This book is full of problems, so numerous that I filmed a 30-minute rant review/reading vlog on my Youtube channel about it (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4e3nTQRGXwI). All I can say is that this book hurt me to the core of my being with its blatant lack of consent. And the writing is bad. So bad.
This is probably one of the most ridiculous books I've ever read. It was so incredibly boring that I had to skip huge chunks to get past the monotonous, pointless dialogue. The whole premise is a big joke, and it is one more sex book where the female lead is complete disempowered. As for the sex scenes, 50 Shades of Beige would be an appropriate moniker, I'm not surprised the author is hiding behind her nom de plume, the story is laughable.
If I could give it no stars I would.

I really am having a hard time deciding on the rating. I liked the first 2/3's of the book, but the last 1/3 really kind of ruined it. Hmm?
GoodReads Synopsis: It′s simple. No sight. No questions. 48 hours .
Dr. Alexandra Blake is about to give a series of prestigious lectures, but the butterflies in her stomach are for a far more exciting reason ...
After the lecture she is meeting up with Jeremy Quinn, esteemed doctor and dangerous ex-lover - the only person with whom she has ever let her guard down completely. After a few glasses of champagne in his luxurious penthouse suite, Jeremy presents her with an intriguing offer: stay with him for the next forty-eight hours and accept two extraordinary conditions, the first of which leaves her utterly at his mercy, and he will give her an experience more sensual and extreme than any game they have ever played before.
This scorching novel is an erotic exploration of trust and betrayal, experimentation and control, lust and love. Forget Fifty Shades of Grey, this daring debut will leave you breathless for more.
My Thoughts: I enjoyed the first 2/3’s of this book. I thought it was about a couple who were best friends, now, though they had been more than friends at various times in their lives, spending a weekend catching up. But it was more than that. However, the ultimate purpose of the weekend was not what I was suspecting and it was a huge let down.
What the synopsis doesn’t tell you is that Alex black is a psychologist and Jeremy Quinn is a medical doctor and psychiatrist. Together Alex and Jeremy do explore their friendship from a more psychological stand point which was interesting. Also Jeremy helps Alex to understand herself better.
I hate all these comparisons to 50 Shades…this was nothing even remotely close to 50 shades, this is like comparing apples to pears because they are the same color. The end of the book and the end of their weekend was cold and sterile. Alex’s return home to talk with her husband lame and went for the lowest common denominator. And the epilogue could not have been more contrived…leaving open the possibility for a sequel…which I won’t be reading. This was one of those books that I wanted to throw at the wall once I’d finished!

I don't know why I wanted to read Destined to Play. I thought I did but then when I was granted permission to read and review it, I was not interested. I actually loathed Fifty Shades of Grey but I have an open mind so I decided to give it a chance. I learned I should never read erotica ever again because it always angers me.
They always have horrible men who want to control women and make it seem like it's for their own good. I roll my eyes every time they explain how it's all going to benefit them to explore their sexuality. Exploring sexuality in erotica usually means being whipped or degraded in some way. I just can't jibe with it. I'm not a prude at all but erotica always seems to make my blood boil.
I will say that it's probably a little bit better than Fifty Shades of Grey because the woman actually is open to this kind of relationship in contrast to Ana not really wanting it.
Another thing that really grated on me was the way this woman so willingly cheated on her husband. As someone who's experienced being cheated on, I hate reading about people who cheat on their partners. It's just impossible for me to push aside my feelings concerning infidelity.
This book wasn't for me. Fans of Fifty Shades will most likely enjoy it.
This book made me realise I should never read erotica again because I never find it erotic. I always find it boring and seem to hate pretty much everything about it. I've decided never to put myself through it again.
(Thanks to Edelweiss for providing me with a copy in exchange for my honest opinion)

Spoiler
I don't even care that in the end, her husband convieniently admitted he thought he was gay. This book wasn't for me. Fans of Fifty Shades will most likely enjoy it.

I only read 100 pages but the consent started feeling very loose. DNF.
Het boek springt er niet meteen uit als jet het gelezen hebt. Het is niet en extreem speciaal verhaal. Er zijn seksuele spanningen die meer agitatie veroorzaken dan lust. Het boek leest wel vlot.
Great plot idea, and interesting concept! I know lots of readers were complaining about the adultery; but it didn't bother me at all...it seemed a natural part of the story and made a lot of sense when I got to the end of the book. I'll be reading the second one for sure.
sorry not for me when you bring in medical tests and sex it turns into science fiction shame tho because it started off really great
